Karia, Ravi A., MD

Dr. Karia joined the Department of Orthopaedics as a faculty member in the fall of 2010. Born in Ottawa, Canada and raised in the southern United States, Dr. Karia graduated at the top of his class from Trinity University (2000) with a degree in Business Administration-Finance.

He earned his medical degree from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School (2004) in Dallas, Texas where he was awarded the Southwestern Medical Foundation Scholarship for Academic Achievement (2000-2004).

Agarwal, Animesh, MD

Originally from Plano, Texas, I received my B.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University followed by my M.D. degree and Orthopaedics residency training at UTHSCSA. Following my residency, I obtained a trauma fellowship from Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio, and joined the clinical faculty in 1997. I received the Alonzo J.

Morrey, Bernard F., MD

Bernard F. Morrey, M.D., is the emeritus chair of the Department of Orthopedics at Mayo Clinic.  He holds the academic rank of Professor of Orthopedics at both Mayo and at the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio, and is the John and Posy Krehbiel Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Mayo.

Toohey, John, MD

John S Toohey, MD holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin in History and Medicine and served his internship and residency at the University of Oregon in Portland.   He spent the next 13 years in Wichita, KS with the Wichita Clinic and University of Kansas School of Medicine.  Dr.

Rajani, Rajiv, MD

Dr. Rajani came to UTHSCSA from the University of Florida, Gainesville in 2011 after completing his musculoskeletal oncology fellowship. He completed his Bachelors of Science in Economics and Biology and obtained his Medical Degree at the University of Michigan where he graduated with a distinction in research in 2005. Subsequently, he did his orthopaedic surgery training at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia where he also assisted as a team physician for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football and men’s basketball teams.

Rockwood, Jr., Charles A., MD

Charles A. Rockwood, Jr., M.D., Professor and Chairman Emeritus, Orthopaedic Department, Director, Shoulder Service, UTHSCSA. He has limited his private practice to the study and treatment of shoulder problems for the past 30 years. He worked closely with DePuy Orthopaedics in the development of the Global TM Shoulder Arthroplasty System and a post-operative home-based exercise rehabilitation program for the shoulder. He led his team of investigators in developing a second prosthesis with DePuy specifically designed to treat fractures of the shoulder.

Dutta, Anil K., MD

Dr. Dutta is a specialist in shoulder and elbow conditions.  He holds the rank of Associate Professor in the UTHSCA Department of Orthopedics Surgery. Dr. Dutta is also the Corley Distinguished Professor in Orthopedics. Dr. Dutta has a special interest in shoulder and elbow trauma, shoulder and elbow replacement surgery, and revision shoulder and elbow surgery.  He has been an instructor in the University of Texas Shoulder and Elbow Surgery Fellowship for over 10 years.

Corley, Fred G., MD


I grew up and graduated from Yazoo City High School, a small town in the Mississippi Delta.

I completed my internship at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, TX, I then joined the military and spent one year in Vietnam and one year in Austin, TX.

My orthopaedic residency was at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, TX. Following completion of my residency, I did fellowships in Hand Surgery and Sports Medicine at the Princess Margaret Rose Orthopaedic Hospital in Edinburgh, United Kingdom, and at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.

Cromack, Douglas T., MD

Board certified in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery with added qualification of surgery of the hand.

UTHSCSA faculty since 2000.

Extensive research experience in wound healing including a 3-year fellowship at the National Cancer Institute, NCI.

Graduated from the University of Vermont College of Medicine in Burlington, VT in 1983 with a degree in Medicine.

Graduated from the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY with a BS in 1973.
