Academic Programs Overview

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery’s mission statement includes three vital services. The primary goal of the department is to train competent, confident Orthopaedic surgeons of unwavering integrity. Secondly, we are committed to advancing the art of Orthopaedic surgery through basic science and clinical research. Finally, we are responsible for providing outstanding Orthopaedic surgery care to the residents of Bexar County and surrounding communities.

The mission of the Department of Orthopaedics of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio is to maintain the highest standard of excellence in teaching, research, and patient care. The faculty is committed to educating health professionals and prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal diseases in a cost effective, efficient, safe, and ethical manner.

Our academic program encompasses educational opportunities for allied health professionals (currently physical therapy and physician assistant students), medical students, residents, and fellows.
